HALL OF FAME

CLASS OF 2012

 

The Softball New Brunswick Inc. Hall of fame Class of 2012 includes the following:

 

Minto Langin Well Drillers (1980), Team Category, Eastern Canadian Intermediate “AAA” softball champions – a home grown team that produced numerous championship softball teams will lead the strong field of Inductees into the Softball New Brunswick Inc. Hall of Fame Saturday 23 June 2012 at the Fredericton Inn, Fredericton, NB.

 

Nancy Morrison from Quispamsis, Official’s Category, a Level Five Official who has umpired at many National and International Softball Championships, highlighted by her selection to officiate at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China.

 

In the Player’s Category the inductee is Roland Gautreau from Memramcook. Rollie played in three Junior Canadians and fifteen Senior Men Canadian Championships along with three World Championships. His elite pitching career spanned almost a quarter of a century.

 

Louis Henri of Moncton, Coach’s Category, coached softball teams at seventeen Canadian Championships. He is the only New Brunswick Coach to coach a male and female team to a Gold Medal at Canadian Championships.

Raymond Blacquier, Nelson-Miramichi, and Bob LeBlanc, Dieppe will receive the Charlie O’Brien and Henry Kelly Memorial Awards respectively for their services to the softball community.

Congratulations to Mary King of Miramichi who won $1000 in our fundraiser draw and to Phil Bremner who sold the winning ticket - he receives $100.  Thanks to everyone who supported the draw.  Tickets will be available for 2012 draw shortly in the new year...it's a great way for your team to raise money.
 
Welcome to Gail Gallant (Treasurer), Dave Oakley (adult coordinator) and Alicia Porter (learn to play/middle school coordinator) who were acclaimed to the Board of Directors and President Bev Adams who was re-elected during the AGM business meeting.  We would like to thank Rejean Leger and Stephane Melanson, outgoing Treasurer and adult coordinator for their years of dedication & hard work while members of the board.  AGM minutes will be posted to the website and updates of programs and upcoming events will be added when available.
 
 
Congratulations to all the award winners at last night's (October 22nd) banquet at the Moncton Press Club.  Ninety (90) people enjoyed a delicious dinner, speeches by the award winners and an auction that raised over $400 for minor development programs!  Thanks to everyone who came out and supported the AGM weekend.

U12 coaching manual is available from Pete McLean.  Call 506-773-3507 to order yours $30.  This is the "after learn to play" program and it contains great information on practice planning, drills and skills for the U12 age group. A must have for any U12 coach.

Are you looking to start winter indoor practices and skills clinics with your players but need information on how to conduct indoor practices or what to do.  There are many resources (experienced coaches) in the province that can help.  Stay tuned for a list of coaches that will be willing to assist you.
