NB Selects

This high performance program was designed to provide a competitive pathway for Softball New Brunswick's top male and female athletes in each age category (U15-U20). The teams will be made up of the best athletes from across the province of New Brunswick and they will regularly train together to attend the Softball Canada Canadian Championships on an annual basis. This model will help prepare athletes, coaches and officials for future high performance events (Canada Games, national teams, etc.).

Ce programme de haute performance a été conçu pour offrir une voie de compétition aux meilleurs athlètes masculins et féminins de Softball Nouveau-Brunswick dans chaque catégorie d'âge (U15-U20). Les équipes seront composées des meilleurs athlètes de partout dans la province du Nouveau-Brunswick et ils s'entraîneront régulièrement ensemble pour assister aux Championnats canadiens de Softball Canada sur une base annuelle. Ce modèle aidera à préparer les athlètes, les entraîneurs et les officiels pour les futurs événements de haute performance (Jeux du Canada, équipes nationales, etc.).

2026 NB Selects Coaching Application - Now Available

Softball NB is seeking applications for coaching positions for the 2026 NB Selects Provincial Team Programs. These are honorarium based positions working with motivated athletes at a high performance level, who will represent New Brunswick at the 2026 Softball Canada Canadian Championships. We are looking for coaches who will create a positive, safe and inclusive environment, while prioritizing athlete development.

Available Coaching Positions:

1 Head Coach, and 2-3 Assistant Coaches per team

U15 Women’s (2011/2012) - Fredericton, NB
U17 Women’s (2009/2010) - Calgary, AB
U19 Women’s (2007/2008) - TBD

Coaching Criteria

Minimum Competition-Introduction In-Training (must be certified by June 30, 2026)
Previous experience in high performance sports programs (softball and/or equivalent) is considered an asset
Ability to work in a collaborative, team environment
All female teams must have at least one female on the coaching staff (Head or Assistant Coach)

Selection Process

Applications will be reviewed by the Softball NB High Performance Committee
Qualified applicants will be invited to partake in the two-part interview process including:

A zoom interview with the High Performance Committee

Interviews will take place between September 7 and 13, 2025

On-field evaluation, candidates will assist with athlete evaluations during tryouts, and lead/facilitate drills

On-field tryouts will take place September 20-21, and 27-28, 2025

The High Performance Committee will select a Head Coach and 2-3 Assistant Coaches per team. The Head Coach will be consulted in the Assistant Coach selection process.
Both those interested in Head Coaching and/or Assistant Coaching will partake in the interview process.

Expectations for the Program:

Once selected the Coaching Staff will work together to finalize the roster of 22-28 athletes for the Winter Training Team. The Coaching Staff will lead the eight Winter Training Sessions in conjunction with Softball NB. At the conclusion of Winter Training, the Coaching Staff will select the final roster of 13-14 athletes for the 2026 NB Selects. Teams will train weekly and participate in 3-4 tournaments leading up to their respective Canadian Championship.

2026 APPEL AUX ENTRAÎNEURS - ÉQUIPE NB SELECTS

Softball NB lance son appel de candidatures pour des postes d’entraîneurs au sein des programmes provinciaux NB Selects 2026. Ces postes, accompagnés d’un honorarium, offrent l’occasion de travailler avec des athlètes motivés de haut niveau, qui représenteront le Nouveau-Brunswick aux Championnats canadiens 2026 de Softball Canada. Nous recherchons des entraîneurs et entraîneurs capables de créer un environnement positif, sécuritaire et inclusif, tout en mettant l’accent sur le développement des athlètes.

Postes d’entraîneurs disponibles

1 entraîneur-chef et 2 à 3 entraîneurs adjoints par équipe

Équipe féminine U15 (2011/2012) - Fredericton, NB
Équipe féminine U17 (2009/2010) - Calgary, AB

Critères pour les entraîneurs

Minimum : Compétition - Introduction « En formation » (doit être certifié au plus tard le 30 juin 2026)

Capacité à travailler dans un environnement collaboratif et en équipe
Obligation pour les équipes féminines : au moins une femme doit faire partie du personnel entraîneur (entraîneuse-chef ou adjointe)

Étapes de sélection

Les candidatures seront examinées par le Comité de haute performance de Softball NB.
Les candidats qualifiés seront invités à participer à un processus d’entrevue en deux étapes, comprenant :

Entrevue Zoom avec le Comité de haute performance

Les entrevues auront lieu entre le 7 et le 13 septembre 2025

Évaluation sur le terrain, où les candidats aideront à l’évaluation des athlètes lors des essais et dirigeront/faciliteront des exercices

Les essais sur le terrain auront lieu les 20-21 et 27-28 septembre 2025

Le Comité de haute performance sélectionne un entraîneur-chef et 2 à 3 entraîneurs adjoints par équipe. L’entraîneur-chef sera consulté dans le processus de sélection des entraîneurs adjoints.
Les candidats intéressés par un poste d’entraîneur-chef et/ou d’entraîneur adjoint participeront tous au processus d’entrevue.

Objectifs et attentes du programme

Une fois sélectionné, le personnel entraîneur travaillera ensemble pour finaliser la liste de 22 à 28 athlètes pour l’équipe d’entraînement hivernal. Le personnel entraîneur dirigera les huit séances d’entraînement hivernal en collaboration avec Softball NB. À la fin de l’entraînement hivernal, le personnel entraîneur sélectionne la liste finale de 13 à 14 athlètes pour les NB Selects 2026. Les équipes s'entraînent chaque semaine et participent à 3 à 4 tournois en préparation des championnats canadiens.
