Junior Men's National Team Identification Camps

(Ottawa, ON) Starting in January of 2017, Softball Canada will have a series of one to three day identification camps across Canada. Athletes born between the years of 1999-2003 are invited to register to attend any of the ID camps listed below. The Junior Men’s National Team Coaching staff will operate the camps with the help of area National Team players and/or Guest Coaches. Each player will be evaluated on fitness levels, speed, throwing, hitting, defensive play and general softball game play. There may be intrasquad games at the Regional camps and/or game situation play at any of the camps.

The registration fee is $50 per player to attend a one day Provincial Camp and $100 to attend a two to three day Regional Camp.

A minimum of 10 athletes are needed to operate the Provincial Camps, while a minimum of 25 athletes are required to operate the Regional Camps. The registration deadline will be 14 days prior to the start of each camp. If there are not enough registrants, a full refund will be offered, or players are welcome to transfer to another location.

The purpose of the U14 identification camp is to evaluate the physical stamina and the playing skills of softball players born in 2002 and 2003.

The results of this information will assist the coaching association of Softball NB to:

- create a set of standards for the physical health of players in NB

- develop a set of testing standards for playing skills

- evaluate where players in NB fit in the national skills matrix

- develop coaching resources to improve the benchmark results

All players will take part in physical testing, skills evaluation and scrimmage games.   Future plans include training programs and off season camps in different regions of the province to assist those players interested in improving their skills.   All participants will receive an evaluation camp t-shirt.

Coaches who require an on field evaluation to complete their NCCP competition-introduction certification can do so by assisting with this camp.  Expenses will be reimbursed and all coaches will receive a camp t-shirt.
